China gets it, Europe would like it: 2018 presents Skoda a coupe based on the SUV Kodiaq. It comes to us when Skoda can shovel capacity for construction, Called 2018 Skoda Kodiaq GT.
Does the almost finished coupe version of the Skoda Kodiaq also come to us? So far it is noted: the car, which will be about 4.75 meters long and 2018 Skoda Kodiaq GT, debuts 2018 in China. Customers in Europe are also definitely interested in such a car, the British magazine “Autocar” now cites Skoda CEO, Bernd Maier.
But, Maier adds: it is still debatable whether the production capacities within the VW group were sufficient to be able to offer the Skoda Kodiaq Coupé in Europe. He was optimistic, however, to be able to find “some capacities within the group”.
The background: Skoda operates two autoworks in the Czech Republic, both of which work on stop. SUV produces the brand in Kvasiny, there run next to the Kodiaq the superb, the seat Ateca and the Skoda Karoq from the band. There would be no room for an additional model according to current planning.
Skoda models for Western Europe have not yet been imported. Only non-Czech plant: in Slovakia, the Citigo/Up/Mii is created for Skoda, VW and seat. In India, Russia, and China, Skoda produces for the local markets.
Would definitely not be conceivable to import the large 2018 Skoda Kodiaq GT from one of these countries. After all, a Kodiaq coupé would be the top model of Skoda, would be priced clearly above the superb sort. Whether customers pay such prices for a Skoda? That would be an open-end experiment.
Rumors that Skoda is looking for production capacities outside the European factories of the VW group have been around for a long time. There are mainly in Germany: At the beginning of October 2017 reported Czech media: VW plane, the superb from the Czech Kvasiny to the Passat-plant Emden relocate. This would create space for a Kodiaq coupe in the Czech Republic – but also the cost accounting for the superb deterioration.
