The shape has advantages, such as the high entry and a good overview. The short overhangs make parking easier, even without cameras and beeper. For everyday use the comfort may be sufficient, on longer trips, this is not pleasant.

For the first time, there is the mini-SUV from summer 2018 with four-wheel drive, in combination with the 1.5-liter diesel and 125 hp and a manual six-speed transmission (from 24,340 euros). Many customers will probably not order it: In B-SUV, front-wheel drive is the rule, and the diesel rate in Switzerland is in the face of impending driving bans in descent. But: to the robust appearance of 2019 Ford EcoSport the addition fits perfectly.

Most Ecosport Ford will deliver as before with 1.0-liter three-cylinder gasoline engine (100 hp, 125 hp or 140 hp). The basic gasoline Ford offers only from April 2017. The 125-hp version is available with manual and six-speed automatic transmission (from 21,340 euros), the top petrol engine with 140 hp (22,990 euros), however, only with manual transmission. The base diesel makes 100 hp and starts at 20,900 euros.

The smooth-running power steering works precisely, maybe a tad too direct. That feels nervous sometimes. In tight bends, we automatically steered too hard and then had to open again.

The base does not provide lush but functional features with height-adjustable driver’s seat, power windows, leather steering wheel, two USB ports and air conditioning. Cool & Connect (from 19,990 euros) facilitates the ride, among other things by the navigation system including smartphone coupling, cruise control, parking aid and an armrest in the center console. Titanium (from 22,240 euros) also comes with an audio system including 6.5-inch monitor, climate control, rain sensor, 16-inch Alus and key-free start.

For the first time, Ford offers in Ecosport the variant ST-Line (from 23,840 euros). Then the Ford looks sporty even without the sporty engine: aluminum pedals, black attachments, leather fabric upholstery, red stitching, sports suspension and 17-inch alloy wheels are included, as well as a modified front and rear apron and side skirts. Optional parking aid, reversing camera, xenon light (750 euros) and blind spot assist increase safety. LED headlights do not exist. A Bang & Olufsen system with a 675-watt sound system including ten loudspeakers for 550 euros serves as the earmuff.

Ford has been accepting orders for the revamped Ecosport since October 2017. The official list starts at 18,590 euros for the 100-horsepower gasoline engine. He is in the environment of direct competitors such as Peugeot 2008 (from 17,550 euros) or Opel Mocha X (18,990 euros). But: Kia Stonic (from 15,790 euros) and Renault Captur (from 15,990 euros) are significantly cheaper. Ford also knows this, never to postpone a discount: For the promotional price, there is the 2019 Ford EcoSport currently from 14,990 euros, the predecessor model from 13,890 euros.
