2020 BMW M8 Gran Coupe – 625 Horsepower M Power
BMW is currently testing the 2020 BMW M8 Gran Coupe at the Nürburgring. The four-door coupé complements 2019/2020, the new series of 8-series around the two-door coupe and the convertible. The M8 crowns the respective model series and finally replaces the M6 Gran Coupé.
The 2020 BMW M8 Gran Coupe is powered by a 4.4-liter twin-turbo V8, which delivers 625 hp. The driver transmits the engine power variably to all four wheels via ZF eight-speed automatic transmission. In a competition version, the M8 has 25 hp more power. Visually, the M8 stands out from the other 8 Series Gran Coupe models with larger air intakes at the front, lowered suspension undercarriage, modified sills on the side and a redesigned rear apron.
2020 BMW M8 Gran Coupe interior – lots of aluminum and carbon
Two double-flow exhaust pipes look out of the apron with diffuser. Special alloy wheels with sports wide tires adorn the side view. Behind the 20-inch Alus, the enlarged brake system can be seen – at extra cost, it is also designed with carbon ceramic brake discs. Of course, many M-badges on the body can be seen.
In the interior, the M GmbH also puts in the stuff and installed sports seats, an M-steering wheel and an M-shift lever and also here various M-logos. The driver looks at a digital cockpit. Aluminum and leather applications enhance the interior.
Already at the Geneva Motor Show in 2018, BMW gave a preview of the Gran Coupe in the M8 trim with a concept car. The model is directed against the Porsche Panamera, Audi RS7 or Mercedes-AMG 4-door coupe and stands on the CLAR platform of Bavaria, which also carries the BMW 7 Series. Thanks to lightweight materials, it weighs less, yet the two-door Coupé already weighs in at 1,900 kilos, the four-door Gran Coupe is likely to be heavier and crack the two-ton mark.
