Kia Sportage EcoDynamics +
As a premier vehicle for the mild hybrid use is the Kia Sportage 2.0 CRDi, which is currently offered in the power levels 135 and 185 hp. A mild hybrid is a technique in which both drive assistance and power generation are realized via a starter generator. At the same time, the starter-generator connected to the engine via a belt drive takes on the task of starter and alternator at the same time. In the Kia Sportage diesel mild hybrid, a 48-volt network for hybrid technology is installed.
Components in addition to the starter generator, which can supply up to 10 kW, are the associated voltage transformer and a compact 0.46 kWh lithium-ion battery. Both components are installed under the luggage compartment floor of the Kia Sportage. With this package, the actual 12V onboard battery can be more compact, as the 48V system provides power for the 12V system when needed.
