We drove the Tarraco in the base engines. For most applications, the small gasoline engine should be enough: He runs quietly, withstands consumption and can easily get around in the city with the big SUV. If necessary, he even manages to set the pace to 200.
However, you should not expect a lot of temperament. If gradients come into play, you can clearly feel the 1.6 tonnes of the SUV. The electronics then recommends a low gear quickly, below 2,000 tours, little power comes to the axle. High speeds go to the consumption.
For hilly areas or full load, the stronger power level is recommended. The big diesel has noticeably less trouble with the Tarraco when it gets uncomfortable. It can be easily moved on the torque plateau, without attracting attention by the noise.
FOUR-WHEEL DRIVE OPTIONAL
In combination with four-wheel drive, the diesel engine is even very decent in the area. Mechanically reach up to 50 percent of the moment to the rear axle.
